25.12.2019 Unequally charged ultracold atomic gas mixtures in a magnetic field
The artificial magnetic fields engineered for ultracold gases enable realization of atomic gas mixtures that carry different synthetic charges. We consider bosonic and fermionic mixtures in ring geometry and coupled to the magnetic field via the orbital effect. For unequally charged Bose mixtures, stability regions for different condensed states are obtained as a function of the inter-component interaction and the magnetic field. For unequally charged Fermi gases, the asymmetric orbital coupling to the magnetic field favors an optimum finite center-of-mass momentum pairing resulting in a robust Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state.
